Sports in Europe
Sports in Europe remain a major pastime, and the continent has produced some of the world's most talented and celebrated athletes. Football (aka soccer) is by far the most popular sport, with leagues like the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and France’s Ligue 1 among the most successful on the planet. In addition to being home to many top-flight professional football/soccer leagues, Europe also has a wide range of amateur and semi-professional teams that participate in various tournaments throughout the year.
Other sports such as cycling, tennis, handball, swimming, volleyball and basketball are also popular around Europe. Rugby union is especially popular in countries such as France, Ireland and England; rugby league is more prevalent in Northern England. Cricket is played mainly in Great Britain, while ice hockey is widely enjoyed in countries such as Sweden and Russia. Cycling and track and field are also incredibly popular. Many European athletes have been dominant at Olympic Games and other international competitions.
Europe has produced some of the greatest players in all sports. Soccer stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have dazzled audiences around the world with their skillful play. Tennis greats like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are among the best to ever pick up a racket. Basketball legends like Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol and Tony Parker have put on unforgettable displays of shooting prowess from beyond the arc.
In addition to its many talented athletes, Europe is also home to some of the world's most prestigious sports competitions. The UEFA Champions League is the continent's premier club football/soccer competition, while the Rugby World Cup, Tour De France and Six Nations Championship are among its most iconic annual events.
Sports in Europe continue to captivate millions of fans around the globe, both with incredible performances on the field and outstanding displays of athleticism off it. With so much talent across all disciplines and a wide range of tournaments and championships, there is never a dull moment when it comes to European sports!
Engarde’s Role
Cycling
EngardeEurope will have a strong professional cycling focus with our owned team, racing as from the 2024 season. EngardEurope will manage this top flight cycling team, operationally, commercially and logistically as the exclusive agents for EngardeAsia, owner of the team. EngardeEurope engages with race organizers to attract sponsors but only with regards to the 3 main Tours (De France, Vuelta and Giro).
Football (Soccer)
For EngardeEurope, football (soccer) is a second focus as external managers for football teams and investors and sourcing sponsors for teams. At this time EngardeEurope is not involved in representing specific football players.
Basketball
EngardeEurope has a low key involvement with basketball in Europe, working with a few strategic teams with a focus on sponsorships and investment.
Racing
EngardeEurope continues to have a presence with Formula 1. Sourcing sponsorships is our primary focus for our F1 team partners. Hospitality in European races is only offered as a side service to existing clients who request such service.
EngardeEurope has a smaller footprint in the European MotorGP circuit.
